3D Guitar Hero III Controller

For our first 3D project at University, we had to model our favourite object in Maya, but I thought a PlayStation 3 controller would've been too challenging for me.. so I decided to model this Guitar Hero III controller. The original model I created had "poor geometry" as my tutor's assistant said, since I only had horizontal edge loops, no vertical ones, thus I was unable to create the 'dip' in the guitar body next to the neck. So I had to start again & I was able to create what you see here.

I put as much detail into it as I could, except for a few pieces on the back. I put in each individual line on the neck of the guitar, each screw hole on the back and even 3D text for the Start & Select buttons, along with 3D text on the back in the Guitar Hero font (which may be hard to see). Overall, I'm very pleased with this, especially for my first real 3D object. Hopefully I can continue increasing my skills in this area & move on to creating 3D models for games or films one day!
